Let It Go:  How To Move Forward

IMG_4040

Many years ago (before I met my amazing husband) I was stuck in a painful rut after a break up.  I held onto the anger, loss and searing pain with a tight grip.  Maybe you’ve experienced this type of pain or maybe you regret a business decision you made.  Does guilt plague you because of that person you hurt?  Is your pride getting in the way of remedying that relationship?

You can be stuck for years experiencing feelings you would rather not feel.  To some degree, the length of time you stay in that place of discomfort is up to you.  Sometimes it’s simply time to let it go.  Move forward.  Here’s your opportunity.

That doesn’t mean that you need to forget or pretend that what you experienced didn’t happen.

A shift in your perspective can change the meaning of what happened in your past.  Did someone hurt you?  Were you involved in something you feel guilty about?  Did you lose someone?

Years after the split, this was my perspective, “I wish I never dated him.  Now I hurt like crap because I don’t have him anymore.”

Over time I let the old perspective go and replaced it with a healthy one.  “He brought so much goodness into my life.  I’m glad we were together because now I know what character traits I need in a husband.”  With this new perspective I felt a release and was able to move forward.  Shortly after, I met my husband.

What would a fresh perspective look like in your situation?

On a daily basis I started aiming for new goals.  I intentionally chose to focus all my energy on something new.  For me, that was studying life coaching and biking like a woman on fire through local mountain biking trails.  In my mind, I owned those trails and I poured my heart into my studies.

What is a new goal you’d like to pursue?  Choose a new focus.  It will help you live in the present and move forward?  What have you always wanted to learn?

Learning forgiveness may be exactly what you’re looking for!  Forgiving someone for something they did in the past could be your key to letting go.

I know you are resourceful.  I know you are part of your own solution.  The steps you take WILL move you forward.  I encourage you to take one today xo

Let me know over on my Facebook page how you’re doing and what positive ideas this article sparked for you…

Keep Shining!

As a physician and mother, itʼs always been a challenge to balance work, home and self-care, but now I have more tools and ideas to make this easier.  Amy helped me set clear goals to improve my quality of life and it was amazing to see the improvement over the course of the eight sessions.
Anonymous Physician Chick
One key principle Amy encouraged me to implement was to guard my rest (unplugging from the world and its demands). As I took care of myself better my focus and energy increased as well as my resiliency to deal with my life as a whole.  I saw how this internal peace improved my decision making, conflict resolution and even building up my business.
Jenn Co.
Amy helped me identify and acknowledge my insecurities and fears.  Now I know I don’t have to live in fear. I don’t have to be afraid to show the world who I am.
