Reset! Amy’s Guide To Beating Burnout

Do you want my guide to beating burnout?  Do you truly need a reset?  I think you already know some or all of the answers I’m going to give you.  Sometimes you just need to quiet yourself to hear what you need.

Let’s look at what it means to be on the verge or in the middle of burnout.  According to the dictionary, Burnout is a psychological term that refers to long-term exhaustion and diminished interest in work.

It’s easy to slip into a lifestyle of doing too much and going beyond our human limits.  This type of lifestyle isn’t free and clear of consequences though, as you are probably well aware!

What Happens During Burnout and How You Can Beat It

When you push your natural limits a few things typically happen.  You start to miss your pillow!  Lack of sleep starts to catch up with you and you may feel short tempered and irritable.  If you have adequate sleep and don’t engage in “restful” activities during the week, this can decrease your motivation in life as well.

What is “restful?”  It’s a personal thing!  Restful to me means reading, playing with my kids, writing, sitting in the sun, dancing, singing, playing an instrument, anything that gives my mind a break.

You need close contact with people who are dear to you but you limit your time with them.  Unrealistic expectations of yourself hinder you from enjoying quality, personal time with others.

You Are Not Helpless or Hopeless!

Of course you can choose to believe you’re helpless or hopeless but it will zap you of your energy.  In her book, “The Right Questions,” Debbie Ford offers these questions to the reader…

Ask yourself these questions to get your mojo back!

1. Am I making this decision for me or am I trying to please others?

2. Will this choice add to the amount of energy I feel or will it rob me of my energy?

3. Is this an act of self love or self sabotage?

Let me know how you are taking care of your needs!  I love to hear stories of how you are progressing and growing.  How have these questions helped?

Love,

Amy

Rocio Olvera

Monique Robertson
My time management has radically improved and I am getting a better handle on my finances.  Most importantly, my personal dreams and spiritual goals are flourishing.  My ability to relate well to my coworkers and handle my own stress has also benefited immensely.
Kisa Macdonald, Lawyer
One key principle Amy encouraged me to implement was to guard my rest (unplugging from the world and its demands). As I took care of myself better my focus and energy increased as well as my resiliency to deal with my life as a whole.  I saw how this internal peace improved my decision making, conflict resolution and even building up my business.
