Facing the Fears That Hold You Back From Success

Success is always in reach.  You can taste it every time you act on your dreams and goals.  Whether your goal is related to family, business or personal life, you can taste success when you take action towards your goal.

The problem is that when you take action on your goals and fear rears it’s ugly head, success seems out of reach.

When you sense fear, you have an opportunity to experience glorious growth in those areas.  You don’t need to believe the lie that fear is to be avoided.  Fear is your opportunity to get clear on what matters most to you.  Then you can use fear to help you make decisions in favor of what you want to experience

What do YOU want?

-more time with your spouse/kids?

-more time for yourself to rest or have fun?

-less busyness and more time spent making a bigger impact with your work?

-(insert your desires here)

Life can get bumpy.  You’ll need to face those fears that hold you back from success!  Here are some common fears both I and my clients have experienced.

Fear of what people might think

“Will they be calling me names behind my back or judging me?  Maybe they’ll think I’m a slacker.  They might think I’m selfish or lazy.”

“Will they approve of my decision?

If your colleague or ‘friend’ is going to judge you for making decisions that best support you, you may want to evaluate how important their opinion is to you.

Fear of What I Will Think Of Myself

Maybe you hold the belief that you’re not as valuable, worthy or strong if you ask for help or support.  Your beliefs or rules can dictate if you will take action or not.  Instead of believing that a successful person is always the Helper not the Helpee, try on the belief “Everyone has strengths and weaknesses.  Confident people ask for support.”

Fear of Success

Some people think that if they face their fears, something will go wrong.  Instead, ask yourself this question, “What if I’m destined to succeed?”  This question can open a can of ‘fear worms.’  If you do wildly succeed, are you willing to accept that others will probably judge you, be jealous of you or treat you in some other poor way?  I hope so because whether or not you take risks in life, some people just won’t like you.  Your goals are worth your attention.  YOU are worth your attention!

Fear of the Worst Case Scenario

Most of the time worst case scenarios don’t happen.  A lot of the time they do though…and people world wide not only survive but are able to move on with life.  Give yourself some credit.  Maybe you’re facing a very big challenge right now but chances are, you will be able to deal very well, even if the worst case scenario happens.

Amy helped me identify and acknowledge my insecurities and fears.  Now I know I don’t have to live in fear. I don’t have to be afraid to show the world who I am.
Rocio Olvera
My time management has radically improved and I am getting a better handle on my finances.  Most importantly, my personal dreams and spiritual goals are flourishing.  My ability to relate well to my coworkers and handle my own stress has also benefited immensely.
Kisa Macdonald, Lawyer
As a physician and mother, itʼs always been a challenge to balance work, home and self-care, but now I have more tools and ideas to make this easier.  Amy helped me set clear goals to improve my quality of life and it was amazing to see the improvement over the course of the eight sessions.
Anonymous Physician Chick
During my coaching sessions with Amy I was given many techniques to deal with personal stress provoking situations.  I regularly use these techniques now.
Monique Robertson
One key principle Amy encouraged me to implement was to guard my rest (unplugging from the world and its demands). As I took care of myself better my focus and energy increased as well as my resiliency to deal with my life as a whole.  I saw how this internal peace improved my decision making, conflict resolution and even building up my business.
Jenn Co.
My life is fuller than it was before I met Amy.  I have more confidence and zest for life!  I want to do more for me and by doing so, for others.
