3 Secrets That Helped These Entrepreneurs Unwind

Ever feel like you’re wound up so tight you might pop?!  As a professional, you are responsible for running your business, your home and your life.  The pressure that ensues can be challenging to handle.  Most of us don’t act pretty under pressure!  We want others to think that behind the front doors of our house, everything’s peaceful and under control.  In reality, too much stress results in poor health, impatience, lack of intimacy with your spouse and the list goes on.

Here are three stories from the lives of clients I’ve coached.  My hope is that you find their secrets help you unwind and feel more relaxed (even while life is busy).

Secret #1 “Prioritize Time With Your Spouse And Kids”

Paul recognized that his business life was eating up time between him and his wife.  He wasn’t spending time doing fun activities with his children anymore, simply because he wasn’t planning ahead.  With a support team in place, Paul began to make changes.  He was tired of his work life taking over his thoughts while he was away from the office.  He wasn’t feeling present at work or present at the office.

He realized that the only way he was going to achieve the family life he wanted was to make some big changes!  I worked with him to effectively coach his team so that when he was away, they were still highly focused and productive.  Then he started taking every other Friday off.  He started planning ahead for fun adventures with his family.  After implenting these changes his team experienced one of their most profitable weeks this year and he became noticeably more relaxed.

Secret #2  “Set New Standards For Yourself”

You might be thinking, raising my standards will cause me more stress!  Let me explain what John did to raise his standards and how it helped him unwind.  John runs a very large business and trains his team players to become successful in their respective businesses.  When we started working together, his stress was evident in his mannerisms and lack of health.  He was so focused on his business that it ruled his life.  He was no longer the master but a slave to it.

Now listen.  He made big changes within his team that made a world of difference to his sanity!  He set new standards for his team to adhere to and new standards for himself that he would no longer settle for.  He began to set boundaries to ensure he guarded his mental and physical rest.  He made a decision to no longer tolerate lack of communication in the office or lack of exercise in his personal life.  These changes over time have ensured that he feels mentally rested.

Secret #3 “Visualize Your Success”

Sarah was feeling so overwhelmed by her personal and business life that she became depressed.  Her confidence in business was fantastic but in her personal life it was much lower than she’d like to admit.  She took some of the mindset techniques I’d shown her and started practicing.  She pictured her wiser and more experienced self encouraging her younger self during a stressful experience.  Within one session she said a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders.  She could breath more easily and felt noticeably lighter!

When you’re wound up so tight from stress and responsibilities, it feels uncomfortable to take time for yourself and your family.  It’s challenging to tell someone that you’ll no longer be settling for behaviour or lack of excellent work practices.  It can feel uncomfortable to spend time with yourself and acknowledge your feelings.  My encouragement for you is, it’s worth it!  Spend 15 minutes today implementing one of these strategies and I guarantee it will help you feel more at ease!

Now It’s Your Turn!

Amy helped me identify and acknowledge my insecurities and fears.  Now I know I don’t have to live in fear. I don’t have to be afraid to show the world who I am.
Rocio Olvera
One key principle Amy encouraged me to implement was to guard my rest (unplugging from the world and its demands). As I took care of myself better my focus and energy increased as well as my resiliency to deal with my life as a whole.  I saw how this internal peace improved my decision making, conflict resolution and even building up my business.

During my coaching sessions with Amy I was given many techniques to deal with personal stress provoking situations.  I regularly use these techniques now.

My time management has radically improved and I am getting a better handle on my finances.  Most importantly, my personal dreams and spiritual goals are flourishing.  My ability to relate well to my coworkers and handle my own stress has also benefited immensely.
