Grow Stronger: Admit your Weaknesses

Being honest about our weaknesses doesn’t come easily to most of us.  Maybe that’s because we feel inferior to others when we do.  Why bother admitting we could improve when we could go on pretending we’re perfect and know everything?

So, what might the benefits be of coming to terms with our weaknesses?  There are many benefits, so I’ll touch on the ones I feel are the biggest:

In Your Relationship:

1.Increase in humility
–The definition of humble is not proud; modest.  Whereas the definition of pride is a high opinion of one’s own importance or qualities; conceit.  I’m not saying you shuld put yourself down.  What I am saying is that it’s healthy to consider all of who you are, not just your strengths.  Being humble tears down dividing walls between you and your partner/spouse so you can enjoy a deeper and more satisfying relationship.

2.Gives others permission to mess up…Whether you’re aware of this or not, you’re being watched.  You are an example to the people around you.  It’s up to you to decide what kind of example you will be.  Being real and open about who you are allows others to stop performing and grow on a personal level.

3.Support will be offered…When you admit you’re not perfect (Ahhh!) your spouse can support you to become who you want to be.  If they know you want help, they’re much more likely to offer a hand.  Hey, they’re not perfect either so when you find yourself drawn to thinking, speaking or acting inconsistent with who you want to be, call for back up!

In Your Business:

1.Incresease in humility…You don’t need to tell your co-workers or clients/patients, “These are my weaknesses.  I need to work on a, b and c.”  Though, if your humility shines through in your work, you’ll be a much more appealing person to work with/for.

2.Others can relax
–You’ll become more understanding and empathetic with those you come in contact with when you understand your own areas that need improvement.

3.Support will be offered
–Give yourself permission to ask for help.  Remember, it’s a sign of strength!  Ask another person for advice when needed.  Stop trying to do or take on new tasks when you know someone else could do it better and faster.  We’re not all gifted in the same ways.  Focus on what you do best and allow yourself to shine in those areas..

Now you know the benefits, try it out for yourself.  See how it makes you feel and what starts happening in your personal and professional relationships when you are true to yourself.  Acknowledging both our strengths and weaknesses allows us to become whole people who can live dynamic and full lives.

Do you have an inspirational story that ties into this topic?  If so, I’d love to hear about it.
Cheers,
Amy

Testimonials

Amy helped me identify and acknowledge my insecurities and fears.  Now I know I don’t have to live in fear. I don’t have to be afraid to show the world who I am.
Rocio Olvera
One key principle Amy encouraged me to implement was to guard my rest (unplugging from the world and its demands). As I took care of myself better my focus and energy increased as well as my resiliency to deal with my life as a whole.  I saw how this internal peace improved my decision making, conflict resolution and even building up my business.
Jenn Co.
During my coaching sessions with Amy I was given many techniques to deal with personal stress provoking situations.  I regularly use these techniques now.
Monique Robertson
As a physician and mother, itʼs always been a challenge to balance work, home and self-care, but now I have more tools and ideas to make this easier.  Amy helped me set clear goals to improve my quality of life and it was amazing to see the improvement over the course of the eight sessions.
Anonymous Physician Chick
My time management has radically improved and I am getting a better handle on my finances.  Most importantly, my personal dreams and spiritual goals are flourishing.  My ability to relate well to my coworkers and handle my own stress has also benefited immensely.
Kisa Macdonald, Lawyer
My life is fuller than it was before I met Amy.  I have more confidence and zest for life!  I want to do more for me and by doing so, for others.
