Do You Have The “Too Many Ideas” Syndrome?

When I sit down in the morning I am continually thinking of ideas.  Sometimes I have too many ideas which can be overwhelming and debilitating.  Here’s what I do so that I don’t stay stuck, but instead, can move forward and take action.

Go for a walk (sometimes with pen and paper in my pocket).  Walking distracts me from my thoughts and helps my mind settle.  The ideas, thoughts and reminders surface more gracefully while walking.  When they do I can write them down.

Grab a pen and write until my ‘thought vault’ is empty….at least for now.

Evaluate my ideas in line with my goals

Get ruthless about what I will and won’t spend my time on at this very moment.  (this can be uncomfortable)

Choose.  If I have competing ideas I tell myself I can pursue both!  The choice lies in which idea I will focus on first and which has to be patient and wait.

Satisfaction comes when I see ideas on paper, then seize one and run with it.  Your ideas won’t die when you place them in 2nd, 3rd or 4th place.  You can still dream and mull over them while you pursue #1 for now.

When feeling stuck or overwhelmed by ideas, what helps YOU break free and feel settled?  I’d love to hear below or pop over to facebook and share!

Hope that helps you Idea Generators!

Warmly,

Amy

Testimonials

One key principle Amy encouraged me to implement was to guard my rest (unplugging from the world and its demands). As I took care of myself better my focus and energy increased as well as my resiliency to deal with my life as a whole.  I saw how this internal peace improved my decision making, conflict resolution and even building up my business.

As a physician and mother, itʼs always been a challenge to balance work, home and self-care, but now I have more tools and ideas to make this easier.  Amy helped me set clear goals to improve my quality of life and it was amazing to see the improvement over the course of the eight sessions.

Amy helped me identify and acknowledge my insecurities and fears.  Now I know I don’t have to live in fear. I don’t have to be afraid to show the world who I am.
